AUSSIE DESIGNER LAUNCHES SUSTAINABLE WORKWEAR BRAND MADE FROM RECYCLED MATERIALS

Set to be a pioneer in creating a more sustainable future, BeauTex Designs has launched as an Aussie owned workwear brand made from recycled plastic water bottles and repurposed materials. Targeting a range of industries including hair and beauty, hospitality, construction and health, BeauTex has created a range of shoes, bags and trade accessories built on the foundations of waste minimisation, transparency and re-use, addressing landfill and plastic issues globally.

Created by entrepreneur and designer, Brooke Jones, BeauTex Designs is a solution-driven business with its sights set on cleaning-up the textile industry with a circular economy philosophy. Saying no to landfill and yes to reuse, what makes BeauTex a game changer is Brooke’s eco-approach having spent the past two years undertaking extensive research and development perfecting the products, materials and processes, working with suppliers to harness the potential of waste products.

BeauTex has launched with a range of footwear that uses an eco-fabric, allowing each shoe to be made from 12x 500mL recycled plastic water bottles, keeping discarded plastic out of the ocean and landfill. Additionally, the BeauTex shoes are water repellent, bleach resistant and crafted from high quality recycled and repurposed materials that are made to last, such as soles made from repurposed rubber. They are stylish and built for comfort with 6mm memory foam support. With this launch, BeauTex has also gone plastic free with the first shoe shipment packaged in recycled cement bags handmade in Cambodia, a product of an intensive training program developed for the disabled, deaf and underprivileged in the community. The program provides trainees with the necessary skills to gain employment, with all profits diverted back into the Cambodian community.

The revolutionary workwear brand has also launched multipurpose eco bags with interchangeable components, removable straps, a scissor pouch, and an insulated hot tools compartment for hair stylists on the go. The first of it’s kind, the Stylist Essentials Bag is also made from an eco-fabric that uses 20 x 500mL recycled plastic water bottles in every bag, and like the shoes, is water repellent and bleach resistant.

BeauTex will also feature eco hairdressing capes and aprons, an eco towel made from fibres that are good for people and the planet, and eco promo shirts for brands looking to partner with the BeauTex standard. Each promo shirt contains 8 plastic bottles and 222 grams of fishing net. They feel like soft cotton, and are bleach resistant giving them longevity to withstand the harsh chemicals hairdressers work with on a daily basis. Currently promo shirts are a large contributor to textile waste as they are often discarded as soon as they become damaged or stained, by converting to this bleach proof fabric hair brands are now able to help address this problem in a big way.

“Maintaining a parallel approach will allow BeauTex and its supply chain to grow together, striving to achieve better manufacturing practices and conditions each step of the way in mass industries struggling to maintain a green footprint. It’s my passion to never stand still in the quest for better manufacturing practices. We are constantly exploring, innovating, educating and incorporating ways in which every element of our product is always improving our own footprint.” Brooke Jones, BeauTex Founder and Director.

With a number of brand collaborations already underway and passionate industry influencers helping to spread their message, BeauTex is already making leaps and bounds in their mission to improve the hair industries environmental impact. If, as an industry, 100,000 hairdressing capes were converted to the BeauTex standard of material, 2.2 million plastic water bottles would be diverted from landfill and 3000 tonnes of CO2 emissions would be saved.

“I am tremendously proud to be a helping hand in creating a more sustainable future for our planet.”
